It is an ideal base for touring around the many beauty spots of Mid Wales or even walking for the more energetic. This listed farmhouse is, warm and comfortable and the presence of oak beams throughout the house gives it great character. It was built in the 16th Century and was once home to John Gwyn the famous Royalist and Diarist of the Civil War. The market town of Welshpool is two miles away. Here there is a livestock market every Monday. Welshpool is also very proud to have one of the best preserved Castles in Wales - Powis Castle with its beautiful terraced gardens. Other attractions in the area are the Canal Boats and the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway.
In the licensed dining room where friends of guests are also welcome, delicious meals are served every night. All the starters and desserts are homemade and the main course is usually a succulent roast served with the accompanying sauces and fresh vegetables. The lounge is a large comfortable room with a colour T. V ideal for relaxing in after a busy day sightseeing. Next door situated in the oldest part of the house is the licensed bar There is also a beverage tray. We can offer en-suite family rooms, twin en-suite rooms and double en-suite rooms. These are all freshly decorated with co-ordinating fabrics and are warm and comfortable with colour TV and beverage tray. There is always a warm welcome at Lower Trelydan, and we enjoy providing our lovely home to make your holiday comfortable and relaxing. Directions:- From Welshpool Town centre traffic lights follow sign post A458 Dolgellau / Machynlleth to roundabout. From the roundabout take the A490 (north) for Guilsfield and continue for about 1½ miles. Turn right on to the B4392 for Guilsfield for about ½ mile. Turn right at the 30 m.p.h. speed limit sign, then take 1st left.
